A popular choice for mountaineers and climbers.

Today, the Skyliner Jacket remains a popular choice for outdoor enthusiasts and fashion-conscious individuals alike. It continues to be a flagship product for Eddie Bauer, a testament to its enduring popularity and timeless design.

How it all started

Eddie Bauer created the first insulated jacket in 1936, when he was an outdoorsman in Seattle. He developed the first quilted down jacket after he survived a near-death experience in the freezing cold. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and understood the importance of staying warm in the outdoors. To keep warm, he experimented with different materials and eventually created a quilted down jacket using a thick layer of down feathers sandwiched between two layers of cotton fabric. The result was a lightweight and comfortable insulated jacket that could keep him warm in even the coldest conditions. This invention would later become known as the first down-insulated jacket, and would revolutionize the outdoor apparel industry.
